MMain Income
One job โ€” main income source
The most common code. Used by most working holiday makers with a single employer.
Use this when
  • โ€”You have one job and it's your main income
  • โ€”Annual income is below $24K or above $66K
  • โ€”First job in NZ (safest default choice)
Most Common
MEMain + IETC
Main income + IETC tax credit
Same as M but with Independent Earner Tax Credit (IETC) automatically applied. Save up to $520/year.
Use this when
  • โ€”One job, expected annual income $24,000 โ€“ $66,000
  • โ€”You're a NZ tax resident
  • โ€”Use M if you're a non-resident

Second job (up to $14K bracket)
For your second or additional job. Choose SB/S/SH/ST based on combined income bracket.
Use this when
  • โ€”Second job income falls in the up to $14,000 bracket
  • โ€”Main job + part-time work
  • โ€”All combined income expected under $14K

SSecondary โ€” Bracket 2
Second job ($14Kโ€“$48K bracket)
Use for a second job when income falls in the $14,001โ€“$48,000 bracket.
Use this when
  • โ€”Second job income is in $14Kโ€“$48K bracket
  • โ€”Higher-earning part-time work alongside main job

SHSecondary โ€” Bracket 3
Second job ($48Kโ€“$70K bracket)
Use for a second job when income falls in the $48,001โ€“$70,000 bracket.
Use this when
  • โ€”Second job income is in $48Kโ€“$70K bracket
  • โ€”High-income professional side work

Second job ($70K+ bracket)
For a second job earning over $70,001. Uncommon for working holiday makers.
